- Hi all,
-
- This VIScorp thing, the buyout thing, that one. Yeah, well initially, I
- thought it would spell the end for the Amiga, dead. Bye Amiga. Next day, I
- realised exactly why VIScorp wanted the Amiga: It is because of the AGA
- chipset. Picture this: AT has the chipset, they want to can it for the nexgen,
- no more AGA. VIScorp thinks, "shit, we need that chipset, because it drives
- our ED's, we *need* it badly", and thus trys to buy it. Well?
-
- Anyway, i'm going to waste this thread, so here goes some more thoughts, and
- some questions. I don't care if they have been mentioned before, so don't
- flame me.
-
- 1) Any PowerAmiga should have a base spec. 603e, 24bit gfx, 16bit sound, 3d
- chip. This should be throughout the family. Like all chipsets, this can, and
- probably will, be enhanced by the supplier as time goes on. Top end P-Amiga's
- should have the faster chips in them, 604's faster gfx, more ports, bigger HD,
- more mem, etc. This would be like a custom chipset, although anybody could
- make one (actually, any body could make an AGA amiga, if AT would sell chips
- to them). Oh, and bundle a monitor will it, except for the Amiga, no
- mainstream computer comes without one (or at least, they can't work without
- one)
-
- 2) QUESTION: What programming language should I use? I have E, BlitzBasic
- (demo version), and I will be looking into C soon. I want to do utilities, 2d
- games, and try and learn to do 3d games. Would learning some asm help?
- Definately *not* AMOS, too slow.
